P012F – Engine Coolant Temp / Engine Oil Temp Correlation

No matter how much we drained, it ALWAYS read like this. How am I supposed to read this?
* SOLUTION: Check while running and warm (ideally around 160-180°F

Its in the low 30°s F, it was plugged in and I warmed it a while and I didn’t make it far before the light came on. 4 miles home with the light on, so about 8 miles.

This looks dark to me. Filter and fluid was changed in early Dec, about 4k miles ago according to OBDLink (cleared codes).

While I was draining the transmission fluid, there was a “whistling” or “hissing” sound (towards the end of the draining) that I couldn’t place.

Normal? – Probably.

P012F Diagnoses?

Its seems to be drivin0g fine (other than the “whirring”)

Sonnet 4.5 on the Android app says it could be coolant temp or engine oil temp sensors. I watch the temps all the time and haven’t seen anything anomalous.

Coolant level looks fine.

The transmission fluid level is really confusing because it really seemed overfilled, especially since the dip stick was popped out when I opened the hood, AND the dipstick seemed to indicate over filled the whole time we were draining it. Why would that be?

The “whirring” sound I was worried was the transmission, I’m pretty confident is the hubs.

So, can we eliminate the oil temp and coolant temp sensors?

  • Oil temp sensor:
  • Coolant temp sensor:

*Also, what is the buzzing, like a pump that continues after the engine is shut down?
